Uner Colak received B.S. degree in Materials Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, and then, M.S. and Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from Iowa State University, USA. He has been faculty member at the Nuclear Engineering Department of Hacettepe University between 1989 and 2013 and the Energy Institute of Istanbul Technical University starting from 2013 to date. He has been in North-West University in South Africa as an adjunct professor and lectured “HTR Fuel and Materials” course between 2004 and 2006.
He was also a member of Atomic Energy Commission of Türkiye from 2008 to 2011. He has been currently serving as board member of the Association of Nuclear Engineers in Türkiye.
Uner Colak has participated in many activities and coordinated research projects in IAEA. His is currently involved in projects related with fuel cycle, reactor materials, nuclear cogeneration as well as advanced nuclear reactor design and safety.
