Prof. Sukesh K. Aghara, University of Massachusetts Lowell

Sukesh Aghara’s research group, INSSL uses experimental and computational tools to understand the mechanisms of radiation interactions and transport. The group focuses on characterization of radiation fields; evaluation of reactor fuel isotope inventory; cyber-physical nuclear systems modeling and simulations, nuclear security, safeguards, and non-proliferation. INSSL has funded research on assessment of cybersecurity vulnerability of nuclear plant systems, modeling and simulation of safeguards inspections effectiveness and assessment of nuclear reactor applications for decarbonization solutions.

Sukesh Aghara holds a Ph.D. (2003) and M.S. (2001) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, with a supporting area in Nuclear and Radiation Engineering. He also earned an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from Vanderbilt University (1999) and a B.Eng. in Environmental Engineering from L.D. College of Engineering, Gujarat, India (1996).

Mr. Sukesh K. Aghara will be speaking about Localization Strategies for the SMR Supply Chain at the Breakout Session II during Session I: Unlocking the Business Potential of SMRs, on 15 January.
